    • Double check everything
    • Maximize your sales with a professional business card design

Networking is an essential part of business success. And while most contact information collection in 2023 takes place online, there are still times when you might run into someone in the real world who might benefit from your business services or products. When that happens, make sure you have a business card handy!

According to market research, the number of sales increased by 2.5% on average for every 2,000 business cards handed out. But that only works if your cards adequately represent your business.

How to Design a Sales Worthy Business Card?

Use professional business card templates

A poorly designed business card can do more harm than no business card at all. Your card is a representation of your brand, and if it looks horrible, so does your business! The best way to ensure a sales-worthy design is to use a professional business card template.

Use professional business card templates

Templates are a great way to get a professional-level design without requiring professional-level design skills (or time). Even better, you can find plenty of free business card templates online from websites like PosterMyWall.

Simply choose the template that best fits your brand, update the information, and you’re ready to print. You’ll be getting new leads in no time with your high-quality business card designs!

Include only the most important information

Business cards aren’t huge, so you need to prioritize the space. Include only the most important information that someone might need to contact you or purchase your products and services. According to marketing professionals, these are the most important pieces of information you should include on a business card:

  • Your name and title
  • Contact details (email, phone, etc.)
  • Business logo
  • Business name
  • Tagline
  • Business address (online and/or physical)
  • Social media handles

It’s a good idea to create a visual hierarchy that displays information in order from most to least important — though there shouldn’t be any completely unimportant information on your card at all. The business name, logo, and your name should all be very obvious at first glance. Other information can be smaller and listed toward the bottom of the card as you see fit.

Choose the right typeface

The font does more than just display information. Just like everything else on your business card, it’s a representation of your brand, so choose carefully!

You want your font to be a good representation of your brand. For example, if you own a high-end boutique, script lettering would make your card (and, therefore, your business) look more elegant. But that script lettering probably wouldn’t match the tone of a sporting goods store.

Choose the right typeface

No matter which font you choose, make sure it’s readable first and foremost. There’s no point in choosing a font that nobody can read!

Business cards don’t have a lot of space, but you shouldn’t make any font on your card smaller than 8 pt. Any smaller than 8 pixels is too difficult to read and takes away from your overall card design and effectiveness. Important information, like your name, should be bigger, around 12 pixels or larger, so it stands out.

Leave some white space

A cluttered business card makes your business look cluttered and chaotic — which isn’t the feeling you want to give potential customers. Leave plenty of white space (blank space without any text or graphics) to maintain an organized and clean appearance.

If you feel like you have too much information to leave any white space, consider removing some of the less essential information or utilizing both sides of the card. For example, putting your personal information on one side and your business information on the other is a great way to maximize space without looking cluttered.

Include a QR code

Just about everything marketing-wise is online these days, but you can’t put a link on a business card. People can’t click with their fingers! However, there’s still an effective way to lead potential customers to your website with your business card.

By adding a QR code to your business card, anyone can use their smartphone to follow the code to your website or a specific landing page to learn more about your business and its products and services.

You might not be able to answer all potential customers’ questions on a small business card, but with a QR code, you can help them easily find just about any information they’d want to know about you and your company.

Double check everything

There’s nothing more embarrassing than handing out a business card with your name spelled wrong. Not to mention the waste of money having to remake 2,000 business cards because you missed a digit in your phone number. Before you hit the print button, double and triple-check to ensure everything on your business card is perfect.

Double check everything

If you included a QR code on your card, use your smartphone to make sure the code leads where you intended. It’s also a good idea to show your designs to a few other people to see if they catch any mistakes. The more quality control you do before sending your designs to print, the better!

Maximize your sales with a professional business card design

A professional-looking business card says a lot about your business. Not only does it provide potential customers with your business information, but it also gives them a taste of your overall branding and style.

If you want a business card that’s guaranteed to sell, use business card templates from PosterMyWall, include all essential information, choose the right typeface, leave some white space, use a QR code, and double-check everything. By following these tips, your business cards will look so good that you’ll be excited to start handing them out!
